Saat ve mücevher markasından kazandığı paraları Ferrari'ye harcayan Lee, filosunu genişletti. 50 milyon dolarlık Ferrari marka otomobillerini San Gabriel Vadisi'ndeki özel garajında sergiledi. İtalya'daki Ferrari test sürüşlerine katılıp, gördüğü her yıldızla Ferrari'sinin yanında poz verdi.

Lee son olarak 2 milyon 200 bin dolarlık LaFerrari Aperta modelini, araç koleksiyonuna eklemek istedi. Ancak Ferrari yetkilileri, "Bu aracı sadece 200 kişilik VIP listemize mensup kişilere satacağız" diyerek işadamını reddetti.

ABD'li işadamı ise aldığı "Hayır" yanıtı karşısında şoka girdi. Olayın basına yansıması üzerine Ferrari yetkililerinden açıklama geldi.

Yetkililer, "Ferrari, sadece bir otomobil markası değil aynı zamanda bir yaşam biçimidir. Paranızın olması demek, istediğiniz Ferrari'ye sahip olacağınız anlamına gelmez. David Lee, Ferrari koleksiyonuyla o kadar çok gösteriş yaptı ki bu durum markamıza yarardan çok zarar verir bir hale geldi" dedi.

Ferrari yetkilileri tarafından "görgüsüzlükle" suçlanan David Lee ise "Ben sadece otomobillerimi sosyal medya hesaplarından paylaştım. Bu markaya zarardan öte yarar sağlar" demekle yetindi.

Bu arada Ferrari'nin 200 kişilik VIP listesindeki 2 Türk dikkat çekti. Türkün Holding'in sahibi Erol Türkün ve gayrimenkulcü Mehmet Selim Dalaman, Ferrari'nin 20 kişilik VIP listesindeydi. 2 Türk, birkaç yıl önce garajında 5 Ferrari olan 200 zenginle Ferrari'nin İtalya'da düzenlediği bir davette bir araya gelmişti.
